A JOIN clause is used to combine rows from two or more tables, based on a related column between them. Notice that the CustomerID column in the Orders table refers to the CustomerID in the Customers table. The relationship between the two tables above is the CustomerID column.
The general form of a join is: SELECT FROM JOIN ON ; JOIN in the above is any of the various join statement key words, such as INNER JOIN, LEFT JOIN and so on. Different joins provide different ways to combine the two tables.
JOIN clauses allow records from multiple statements and/or named states to be combined, based on a relationship between certain attributes in these statements.
SQL Join statement is used to combine data or rows from two or more tables based on a common field between them.
So, an SQL Join clause in a Select statement combines columns from one or more tables in a relational database and returns a set of data. The From is also an essential part of the Select statement and this is where its specified which table were pulling data from.
The comma operator is equivalent to an [INNER] JOIN operator. The comma is the older style join operator. The JOIN keyword was added later, and is favored because it also allows for OUTER join operations. It also allows for the join predicates (conditions) to be separated from the WHERE clause into an ON clause.
A JOIN clause is used when you need to combine data from two or more tables into one data set. Records from both tables are matched based on a condition (also called a JOIN predicate) you specify in the JOIN clause. If the condition is met, the records are included in the output.
