the design world can be a very confusing place when it comes to terminology and in todays video I want to clear up one of those confusions and thats around three words logo types word marks and letter marks now they all contain similar types of words we have type we have word and we have letter so does that mean that they are describing the same category of logo logo type and word mark are the same thing its just that some designers use those words interchangeably I personally use the word word mark whereas I know other designer friends who use the term logo type so what is a logo type slash word mark well thats where a brands name product or service is created typographically its typed out using characters more often than not in a distinctive style because theyre not using a symbol or a graphic to represent the brand theyre using their name and so its type type in a way that is very distinctive and uses certain colors on certain typefaces to represent the brands look and fee
