The legend tells what each line represents. Just like on a map, the legend helps the reader understand what they are looking at.
A legend is used to identify data in visualizations by its color, size, or other distinguishing features. Simply connect one or more data visualizations to a legend and they will automatically display a table of symbols and descriptions to help users understand what is being displayed.
Most charts use some kind of a legend to help readers understand the charted data. Whenever you create a chart in Excel, a legend for the chart is automatically generated at the same time. A chart can be missing a legend if it has been manually removed from the chart, but you can retrieve the missing legend.
On the Design tab, in the Data group, click Select Data. In the Select Data Source dialog box, in the Legend Entries (Series) box, select the legend entry that you want to change. Click Edit. Tip: To add a new legend entry, click Add, or to remove a legend entry, click Remove.
On the Layout tab, in the Labels group, click Data Labels, and then click the option that you want. For additional data label options, click More Data Label Options, click Label Options if its not selected, and then select the options that you want.
Select your chart in Excel, and click Design Select Data. Click on the legend name you want to change in the Select Data Source dialog box, and click Edit. Type a legend name into the Series name text box, and click OK.
Group Items in Excel Chart After the table is set up in a specific format, as the table is set up above, simply highlight the table and select the Insert Menu for choosing your Excel chart. On the Insert Menu - Choose a column chart and the 2D Column. Each of the items are separated into the categories for the state.
Legends are designed to teach a lesson about a real person in history, with a few facts dramatically changed. Fables are stories that are passed down, with a good lesson to be learned, and are about animals, plants, or forces of nature that are humanlike.
Click the chart, and then click the Chart Design tab. Click Add Chart Element Legend. To change the position of the legend, choose Right, Top, Left, or Bottom. To change the format of the legend, click More Legend Options, and then make the format changes that you want.
A legend is an explanation of characters, symbols, or markings on a document that are usually unfamiliar to the reader.
