- [Instructor] This training assumes you have worked with creating and applying retention labels and or policies. Refer to Compliance video Introduction to Retention Labels if a refresher or overview understanding is needed before proceeding. Start by going to compliance.microsoft.com, select Information Governance. If you dont immediately see this option, select show all. Information governance is organized into five tabs, but we will focus on the Labels tab. A label must be created before you can add the label to an Auto-Apply policy. Check the Labels tab on the Information Governance page to verify if a new label needs to be created or an existing label can be added to the policy. Click Create a Label to start the New Label Wizard. On the Name Your Label Page of the wizard, give the label a Name that reflects the labels purpose. Add a description for admins and users to inform of labels intention. Before creating the label, verify all the settings meet your intended requirements.

If youre considering a retention bonus agreement with your employer, then you can perform a cost-benefit analysis. Typically, the analysis considers whether the short-term bonus outweighs the long-term benefits of finding another role. If you think it does, then accepting the retention bonus is an excellent choice.
If you receive one, consider whether you want to stay with the company for the amount of time in the issued agreement, determine whether you want to explore other opportunities, and negotiate before you accept the bonus. A retention bonus is a payment given to an employee as an incentive for them to stay at a company.
Under the US National Labor Relations Act, employees have the right to find new employment. But if staff resigns before the date stipulated in their retention contract, they may be obligated to return any benefits they received in relation to the agreement.
The retention bonus is a great solution for companies that want to overcome a temporary hurdle and keep their best talent around. Still, the most important and effective way to retain your workforce is by engaging them, empowering them, and showing them how valuable they are to your organization.
No. Retention incentives are not considered part of an employees rate of basic pay for any purpose, including severance pay, and are not included in lump-sum annual leave payments.
Typical retention bonuses can be anywhere from 10% to 25% of the base salary, depending on the industry.
Thank you very much for the generous bonus offer. I believe the amount is appropriate, though I would like to discuss the retention period. I would be more comfortable with an 18-month retention period instead of a 24-month period.
Start by showing that you value the employee before moving into the details of what the retention bonus is. Offer a way for the person to show interest in the offer so that you can move forward with them signing the agreement. After that, thank them, again, for their service at your newly formed company and sign off.
