the text join function is a new function that is available starting in excel 2019 as well as office 365. it allows you to join two or more strings together with each value separated by a delimiter lets take a quick look at how to use the text join function in excel here we have four columns of data lets use the text join function to join the values from these four columns into a single result with a comma as a delimiter between each value to get started lets begin by entering the text join command as you can see the text join function takes a number of parameters the first parameter we will enter is a delimiter this is a string that will be inserted between each text value most commonly you would use a delimiter such as a comma or space character in this tutorial we will use a comma the second parameter determines whether empty values are included in the resulting string true ignores empty values and false includes empty values in the result so lets enter true so that empty values

Follow these steps when using TEXTJOIN in Excel: Type the introductory text. Start your TEXTJOIN function by typing the phrase =TEXTJOIN. Define your delimiter text. Type your delimiter text after the starting parenthesis and comma in your syntax. Add your ignoreempty value. Input your defined cells. Defining cell range.
CONCAT can join only two things while CONCATENATE can join two or more things.
The TEXTJOIN function combines the text from multiple ranges and/or strings, and includes a delimiter you specify between each text value that will be combined. If the delimiter is an empty text string, this function will effectively concatenate the ranges.
= TEXTJOIN (,, TRUE The TEXT1 argument is a required argument where you specify the first value to be merged. This could be a text string (enclosed in double quotation marks). Or a reference to a cell or a range of cells that you want to be merged.
Both of these functions let you join (concatenate) text in different cells together. TEXTJOIN lets you join values with a delimiter of your choice, and has an option to ignore empty values. CONCAT simply mashes all values together without options.
If your Excel TEXTJOIN function is not working but you need to use it urgently, in this case you can use the alternative option like CONCAT function. This function offers you the same functions as CONCATENATE.
The only real difference is the 255 strings limit of the CONCATENATE function and no such limitation when using the ampersand. Other than that, there is no difference between these two methods, nor is there any speed difference between the CONCATENATE and formulas.
Use CONCATENATE, one of the text functions, to join two or more text strings into one string.
