You can create a join between two fact tables and then add that join to the facts object. Before you can create a fact-to-fact join, you must create a facts object and add two or more tables to the facts object.
You dont join fact tables. Facts are combined by summarizing each set of measures individually by common dimensions then joining the summarized sets on those dimensions.
Use the wizard to create the corresponding fact and dimension tables. In Data Modeler, lock the model for editing. In the Database menu in the left pane, right-click the source table that contains the fact and dimensional data that you want to model, select Add to Model, and then select Add as Fact and Dimension Tables.
Dimensions are companions to facts and are attributes of facts like the date of a sale. For example, a customers dimension attributes usually include their first and last name, gender, birth date, occupation, and so on.
Two dimension tables cannot be joined. In the join conditions that are specified in the ON clause, the fields in the dimension table cannot use type conversion functions, such as CAST. If you need to convert data types, perform the conversion on the fields in the source table.
The general form of a join is: SELECT FROM JOIN ON ; JOIN in the above is any of the various join statement key words, such as INNER JOIN, LEFT JOIN and so on. Different joins provide different ways to combine the two tables.
Typically, dimension tables that are shared by multiple fact tables (or multiple dimensional models) are called shared dimensions . If shared dimensions already exist for any of the dimensions in the data warehouse or dimensional model, you should use the shared dimensions.
You can create a join between two fact tables and then add that join to the facts object. Before you can create a fact-to-fact join, you must create a facts object and add two or more tables to the facts object.
