A JOIN statement is a SELECT that combines records from two tables into a results table based on some condition, called a join condition.
Joins in general are expensive since they require that corresponding keys from each RDD are located at the same partition so that they can be combined locally.
With the AND in the inner join you can specify it even more. Join the tables on the columns, where A1. Column = TASK and throw away the rest. You could just as easily move the AND to the WHERE -Clause.
The ON and USING clauses are mutually exclusive for a particular join operation, that is, only one of these clauses can be specified when joining two tables. However, a single SQL statement can contain several join operations, and each of these can use either clause.
Fortunately, adding more conditions is straightforward and essentially unlimited. You can use the SQL AND and OR clauses to join on multiple conditions or on multiple columns.
In general, the cost of a join operation is a function of the ratio of the extracted records to all records. Hereafter, we refer to this ratio as the selectivity. In Figure 2, the selectivity is determined by the condition x for the column R.C in Figure 2(c).
RIGHT JOIN - Consists of an INNER JOIN plus all rows in the JOIN table, even if they did not match. Imagine all the data within the right circle of the Venn diagram is included. (Full) OUTER JOIN - The most inclusive JOIN , it includes all rows in both tables. These are rare.
The USING clause: This allows you to specify the join key by name. The ON clause: This syntax allows you to specify the column names for join keys in both tables. -- for the tables for the join. You use USING when your join KEY columns have the same names and only for equal join.
