CCF units in schools give young people the life skills and self-confidence to take charge of their lives so they can reach their full potential at school and beyond, including in employment. Each CCF is formed of sections from one or more of the Royal Navy/Royal Marines, Army or the Royal Air Force.
There is a one-off joining fee of £105 that covers all training, kit and transport.

The Combined Cadet Force CCF contingents contain one or more sections from the Army, the Royal Navy, Royal Marines or the Royal Air Force, and promote the aims and values of the Service they represent.
Today the CCF contingents form a vibrant, inclusive youth organisation for pupils aged between 13 and 18, offering significant developmental opportunities in a unique educational partnership with the schools in which they are based.
As well as exciting and adventurous pursuits, many of the activities you take part in with the CCF are focused on helping you gain new skills, improve your teamwork, confidence and leadership. Training will be split over parade evenings, field days, some weekend camps and courses, and Summer Camp.

Process for joining the CCF Typically, cadets would join in Year 8 or Year 9, but the starting year group and time frame can vary from school to school. In schools with more than one section, cadets may have the choice of which service they would like to join. They will then wear the uniform of this Service.
The aim of the CCF is to engender a sense of public service and to develop qualities of teamwork, resilience, self-reliance, responsibility, resourcefulness and leadership in young people. It is run along military lines but is not intended to be a recruitment vehicle for the Armed Services.
