Getting Those Dents Out Take a rubber mallet, or a flat hammer, and with medium force, strike the dent. You should have a hard flat surface behind the opposite direction of the dent to ensure that the dent evens out. Using light to medium force, strike the dent a few times.

YouTube Start of suggested clip End of suggested clip So were going to start by getting this dent out of there and then well start trying to fix thisMoreSo were going to start by getting this dent out of there and then well start trying to fix this bend in the sheet metal. So once again im going to hammer directly on the back side of that crease.
Chilling the metal, such as with freon or dry ice, does the opposite of exciting the molecules of the metal. It causes them to slow down and pack closer together, making the metal contract. This contraction causes the dent to pull back into shape with the rest of the sheet.
Whether it is a simple car ding or a more extensive round dent, sharp dent or a creased one, all kinds of dents can be repaired depending on the extent of the damage done on the metal work of the cars exterior.
The best way to treat a dent is to raise the metal almost to its original level, then to level the surface with a thin layer of plastic body filler. You can do this with most of the plastic filler kits available.
The easiest way to fill in the dents is with a premixed patching or glazing compound designed for steel doors. Its available at home centers and hardware stores. For a heavy-duty fix, use a two-part auto body filler. Its available at auto parts stores.
Minor dents with a diameter ranging from 3 to 5 inches can be fixed using PDR. Even the more minor door dents and dings with sizes of 2 inches or less and medium dents of 5 to 10 inches long are possible to repair.
Small dents may cost $100 or less to fix. At this price, it can be a good idea to get it fixed if youre bothered by the dents appearance or want to sell your car. But, doing it yourself may cause paint damage. Plus, even a repaired dent can result in rust down the road.
Pop out the dent with a hair dryer and compressed air This will expand the dent and make it more pliable. When the car is hot to the touch, immediately spray the dented area with a can of compressed air. The cold air coming from the can will cause the area to contract. This should make the dent pop out.
