Develop a clear and consistent naming convention for your photos. Use tags to help find specific categories of images. Use folders and subfolders to organize your images by date or style. After all, you dont need photo organizing software to be a great photographer.
What is the Average Number of Photos for a Wedding Gallery? On average, most couples can expect to receive around 800-1500 photos from their wedding day. However, if you have a larger wedding or more hours coverage, you may receive more photos.
Create 8 separate piles/folders: Immediate Family, Extended Family, Pre-Ceremony, Wedding Ceremony, After Ceremony, Reception, Details (pictures of flowers, dcor, location, etc) and Throw-Outs. Do a quick sorting process and place each of your photos into the designated category.
To put it simply, RAW files are not the final product. As a professional photographer, Im hired to deliver the final product. The process of wedding photography includes post-production editing and once completed were able to deliver those high-quality, carefully selected images which last a lifetime.
So the best way to deal with organizing the images is to break them into smaller categories and then work with one folder at a time. We recommend doing this in the same order the wedding took place. Going by the folders chronologically ensures you do not miss out on any special photography moments.
Here is a general list of what one can usually expect to see. Ceremony space before guests arrive. Procession walking down the aisle. Groom standing at altar. Bride walking down aisle. Hugs with parents once the bride has walked down the aisle. Guest reactions. Exchanging vows. Exchanging rings.
The average photographer needs between 32GB and 64GB to avoid constantly switching out cards without paying extra for unnecessary space. For reference, I shoot wildlife in burst mode and have never used over 64 GB in a day.
I shoot two 32 GB CF cards throughout a wedding day to eliminate that risk. Typically, Details through Family Photos will be on one card and Ceremony through the end of the wedding day will be on the second.
