A lease amendment is used to change the terms of a lease agreement. It can amend residential or commercial leases and must be signed by both parties to go into effect. After signing, it should be attached to the original lease and copies kept by both parties.
In the ordinary circumstance, a person may reside as an occupant or a roommate in a rental unit with or without the consent of the landlord provided that the tenant also resides in the rental unit. In some cases, a written tenancy agreement may provide who is an occupant of the rental unit.
A Lease Amending Agreement is used to make changes to an existing lease (e.g. changing the permitted use of property or term length). The original lease remains in effect, but with the amendments.
If a tenant wants to assign their lease, they must ask the landlord for permission. In this case the landlord can refuse assignment. However, if they agree, they cannot unreasonably decline proposed assignees.
As a landlord, you can use an amendment to lease agreement Ontario to change the rules of the tenancy if both parties agree.
