Sometimesthe data you need to analyze is spread across two or more databases. IDEAs join task lets you bring information from two databases together to make a new file. In the previous exercise, we imported the Authorization database. If you closed this database, go to the File Explorer to re-open it, so that you have both the Payments and Authorization databases open. Lets right-click on the Authorization database tab, and click New Vertical Tab group. To join two databases together, they must have a common field, in this case, the AUTH field in the Payments database and the AUTHCODE field in the Authorization database. This field is referred to as the key or Match key. The fields do not need to have the same name, but they do need to be the same type. If we hover the cursor over the field name, we can see that AUTH is a character field and so is AUTHCODE. This can be important when you are using a supplier or invoice number as the Match key. One
