hi this is Amos with GIS by example and now Im going to show you how to join tabular data to spatial data in QGIS now what do I mean by that there are two ways to join data in QGIS one way is to take a layer of spatial information and connect it in another way to a different layer with spatial information an example would be to connect points to polygons based on which points fall within which polygons now in this example we have a layer of polygons which are US States we have a CSV file that weve imported that has the election results from each state for the 2012 presidential election so by looking at the attribute tables of the US states layer we can see that it has some data associated with each record but the one were most interested in is named 10 because that has the state name and if we look at the CSV file and look at the attribute table there we also have the state name here since both files have state name we can perform a join based on the attributes in the table thats w
