In general, there are four types of joins that you can use in Tableau: inner, left, right, and full outer.
Data Visualization supports five types of column connections, also known as joins. The types of joins available depend on the underlying database. For example: MySQL connections do not support FULL OUTER JOIN operations. SQLite connections do not support FULL OUTER JOIN and RIGHT OUTER JOIN operations.
A data join is when two data sets are combined in a side by side manner, therefore at least one column in each data set must be the same.
The two basic types of joins are referred to as inner and outer joins. These methods are frequently used to merge tables from related datasets based on common values of a key field, such as Customer ID.
There are four main types of JOINs in SQL: INNER JOIN, OUTER JOIN, CROSS JOIN, and SELF JOIN. However, remember that OUTER JOINS have two subtypes: LEFT OUTER JOIN and RIGHT OUTER JOIN. Some experts separate also a FULL OUTER JOIN.
A Join combines data into new columns. A Join between two tables shows data from the first table in one set of columns alongside the second tables column in the same row. Joins are generally used to look up specific values and including them in results.
