Chunking is a method used for dividing larger numbers that cannot be divided mentally. Chunking is repeated subtraction of the divisor and multiples of the divisor in other words, working out how many groups of a number fit into another number.
Chunked transfer-coding, also known as chunking, involves transferring the body of a message as a series of chunks, each with its own chunk size header. The end of the message is indicated by a chunk with zero length and an empty line.
For instance, you may want to combine several types of information into a single page, or you may have chosen to create many small DITA topics for reuse purposes but feel they are too small to be useful to a reader by themselves. This is referred to as chunking.
Chunking as part of instructional design is a process to group pieces of information into more meaningful units (chunks) that will help the learner to absorb and retain the knowledge. You can chunk down (most common), up, or go both ways to determine the best chunks for your course.
Chunking Examples Telephone numbers and credit card numbers are typically chunked in groups of three or four digits. When you encounter a phone number (or other familiar grouping) thats chunked in an unfamiliar way, it can be much harder to remember it.
