The tag must be inserted immediately after the tag. Tip: By default, a table caption will be center-aligned above a table.
In written reports, titles are not used on figures or tables; instead, the information is placed in a caption. Captions for tables are placed above the table (typically left aligned), and captions for figures are placed below the figure.
Figure captions are generally placed below the figures, while table captions must be placed above the tables. This is because we generally read tables from the top down, and therefore want to see the caption at the top.
Usually, a table caption goes above a table. However, some editors require the caption to be placed below the table. Add the \caption macro before or after the tabular environment to place the caption above or below the table. To reference the table in the text, use \label .
To do so, simply use the command \caption{text} either below or above your figure (usually below for images and above for tables).
Its really easy, just add the \caption{Some caption} and inside the braces write the text to be shown. The placement of the caption depends on where you place the command; if its above the \includegraphics then the caption will be on top of it, if its below then the caption will also be set below the figure.
To start with, we create a new figure, centre it and then create a new subfigure. In the subfigure command we need to add a placement specifier and then give it a width. Because we want three images next to each other we set a width of 0.3 times the value of \textwidth .
A long table may extend over several pages, and you dont want your readers to have to page ahead to find the explanation of what the table is about. This explains why table captions are placed above the actual tables, but not why figure captions are treated differently.
