Hi. In this tutorial, well learn how to add a background picture that you can print and format in Excel. First, what NOT to do. Under the Page Layout tab, Excel has a button labeled Background. And it seems simple enough, you click on the button, you choose your image and it inserts a background image. The trouble is that you cant print this. If we go to our Print Preview, the image disappears. And you also cant edit this image from your spreadsheet. So lets go over how you can add an image that you can print and you can edit. By the way, the calendar that you see on my screen is one that we used in a couple of our other Excel tutorials - How to Create a Month Calendar in Excel and How to Format a Calendar in Excel. If youd like to create this very calendar, please take a moment and go back and watch those free tutorials. On our calendar, and FYI, were currently under the Page Layout View, youll want to place your cursor in the Header section where it says November 2

You can shrink or enlarge a worksheet for a better fit on printed pages. To do that, in Page Setup, click the window launcher button. Then, click Scaling Adjust to, and then enter the percentage of the normal size that you want to use.
Right-click your picture and click Format Picture. Then click the Size Properties tab (a symbol with a green square with arrows around it) and select Move and size with cells. Press F5 to run the code and repeat this process until all the images in your sheet fit into cells.
Excel doesnt really give a good way to prevent the image from repeating, but you can it by simply applying a white background to cells where you dont want the background image to repeat.
