Hello everyone, following up from the previous tutorial on one-to-one join by attributes, today well discuss the second type the one-to-many join, where there are many rows or features for one corresponding feature geometry. Well demonstrate these procedures using the Farms Classified by Total Farm Capital table, which includes the numbers of farms reporting in six separate capital categories for each corresponding boundary. The table also requires some formatting inan external editor, including extracting the joint information which is not unusual for performing joins or integrating Statistics Canada tables with vector data presently. So within the table well begin by moving the first Census Agricultural Region name down to align with the first capital category and delete the row it was in. Then well copy the main table to a new workbook to continue editing. So now we must fill the Census Agricultural Region names for each capital category. So under

Click the What do you want to join to this layer? Click the field on which the join will be based. Choose the table to join to the layer or table.
There are two ways to combine existing features and create a new feature in ArcMap: Merge and Union. Merge combines two or more features from the same layer into one. Union creates a new feature from two or more selected features of the same geometry type.
When performing an attribute join, the joined fields are dynamically added to the existing table. Field propertiessuch as aliases, visibility, and number formattingare maintained when a join is added or removed.
Answer In ArcToolbox, open Data Management Tools General Merge. The input datasets are the layers you want to merge together. Choose where you want to store the merged dataset. The Field Map will populate the field names from the attribute tables of each layer. Click OK.
How To: Concatenate fields in a table in ArcGIS Pro In the Contents pane, right-click the selected layer or stand-alone table, and select the Attribute Table or Open option, depending on the data source. In the attribute table, click Add Field.
When you join two tables, you append the attributes from one onto the other based on a field common to both. Relating tables defines a relationship between two tablesalso based on a common fieldbut doesnt append the attributes of one to the other; instead, you can access the related data when necessary.
Merge can be done for multiple records in a single layer. Select the records in your attribute table (in this case all records that have C) that you want to merge, then go to Editor Merge.. and click OK from the resulting box.
