What is italic? Italic is a typeface style characterized by letters slanted or inclined to the right. It is commonly used to emphasize or differentiate text from the regular upright (roman) typeface. Italic text is often used for titles, quotations, emphasis, or to indicate foreign words or phrases.
Use CTRL + H to bring up the Find and Replace dialog box. In the Find what field, enter the text (Controlling) you want to replace with Italics. In the Replace format options, select Fonts Font style italic and click Ok.

Italic is a type style thats almost always slanted and is designed to create emphasis in text. Originally based on semi-cursive forms, italics are a direct contrast to the upright style.
Oblique and italic type are technical terms to distinguish between the two ways of creating slanted font styles; oblique designs may be labelled italic by companies selling fonts or by computer programs. Oblique designs may also be called slanted or sloped roman styles.
In typography, italic type is a cursive font based on a stylised form of calligraphic handwriting. Along with blackletter and roman type, it served as one of the major typefaces in the history of Western typography.
To make the selected characters italic, select Ctrl+I. The characters are displayed in italic type.
