If you want to type the text in italic form in Whatsapp then open Whatsapp and then select the contact. What you do now is tap on the text box. Tap on this numeric button. Tap on this symbol button and select sign. Now again go back to the alphabet button and type the text. So, after you finish typing the text what you do, again go back to the alphabet button. Tap on this symbol button and again select sign. Now send it to the contact. You will see the text will go in italic font.

Italic font is slanted/skewed/oblique form of regular form. A bold font-weight has the same style as a regular font, with thicker letters. An italic font is a left-to-right slanted version of your typefaces regular font.
