[Music] hello everyone how are you doing this is MD thank you have another quick tutorial today Im going to show you guys how to italicize text on your Microsoft Word document so this is pretty straightforward and were going to jump right into it so depending on whether were trying to do it just for a certain area or the entire body of the paper it really depends so if youre just doing it for a little area I recommend just left clicking on your mouse pointer and then drag it over the area you want to italicize so lets say the entire first paragraph here if you wanted to do the entire paper Id recommend tapping on the ctrl + a key that will select the entire document so you just do a quick tap on the control and the a key at the same time so use two different fingers so hold on the control in the a key that will highlight the entire document and then once youve done that you can go up to the top left if youre underneath the Home tab so you want to shoot underneath the Home tab

To italicize the text in HTML, use either the em tag or the i (italics) tag. Both of these tags will italicize the text, but the em tag additionally indicates that the text has stress emphasis when read. You can also italicize text with the CSS font-style property set to italic.
Most commonly, italics are used for emphasis or contrast that is, to draw attention to some particular part of a text.
Document users sometimes think that every instance of words that are given a defined term should be capitalised. That is not the case. Capitals should only be used if the term is used in context of the definition.
Italic is a type style thats almost always slanted and is designed to create emphasis in text. Originally based on semi-cursive forms, italics are a direct contrast to the upright style.
The name comes from the fact that calligraphy-inspired typefaces were first designed in Italy, to replace documents traditionally written in a handwriting style called chancery hand.
The use of italic script to mark a foreign phrase (not always consistently see for example Ken Adams on force majeure) is no longer a pressing need because most of those terms wont be used any more.
Example: when the symbol is used to denote a physical quantity (such as mass or reduced mass) it should be italic, but when it is used in a unit such as the microgram, g , or when it is used as the symbol for the muon, (see 5 below), it should be roman.
Italics are used primarily to denote titles and names of particular works or objects in order to allow that title or name to stand out from the surrounding sentence. Italics may also be used for emphasis in writing, but only rarely.
