in this video we will look at how we can add some visual elements in our text table and these can be in the form of kpis sparklines or conditional formatting using colors or shapes we will create the sample text table you see on the screen by the end of this video we will be using the sample superstore data set that comes with your tableau installation if you want to follow along iamp;#39;ll see you in a bit one of the most common ways we present data is through text tables or by having numeric values laid out in tabular format often we use tables because we need to see the exact numbers but other times it may be out of habit too we may just be used to seeing the actual values but we have to realize that we may be missing out on some of the immediate important numbers for regular tables like these we need to focus our attention and scan through the numbers maybe a few times to see if thereamp;#39;s anything that we should be paying attention to letamp;#39;s quickly check how we can

To add a table, use three or more hyphens ( --- ) to create each columns header, and use pipes ( | ) to separate each column. For compatibility, you should also add a pipe on either end of the row. Cell widths can vary, as shown below. The rendered output will look the same.
Basic Syntax ElementMarkdown Syntax Heading # H1 ## H2 ### H3 Bold **bold text** Italic *italicized text* Blockquote blockquote6 more rows
Format the text in your table of contents Go to References Table of Contents Custom Table of Contents. Select Modify. In the Styles list, click the level that you want to change and then click Modify. In the Modify Style pane, make your changes. Select OK to save changes.
To italicize text, add one asterisk or underscore before and after a word or phrase. To italicize the middle of a word for emphasis, add one asterisk without spaces around the letters. Italicized text is the *cats meow*.
For example, you can use **double asterisks** to make text bold, or *single asterisks* to make text italic. There are many other things you can do with Markdown, such as adding urls, images, titles, lists and HTML.
In Markdown, you just use asterisks, like so: **something in bold**, and it will appear in your browser as something in bold.
