hi everyone and welcome to our how to series today we are going to be discussing how to write titles when whenever you write essays and thatamp;#39;s either the titles of books or plays or poems what have you the real issue comes down to when do you use italics for a title and when do you use quotation marks and thankfully this is a this is a pretty easy one um you might require some assistance on a few trickier instances but for the most part itamp;#39;s fairly straightforward so you would only use italics for sort of bigger works by which we mean books films um the titles of newspapers themselves not the articles the titles of whole journals themselves again not the not the articles the titles of anthologies uh things like that so the the rule of thumb is if you can go into say a bookstore um and buy whatever it is on its own uh then you would use italics so you can go in and say i would like to buy a copy of the guardian because you can say that you know that thatamp;#39;s the wh

Here are some shortcut keys that might help, toggles is the important word. Ctrl+I toggles between italic and Regular. Ctrl+Shift+P toggles between superscript and Regular. Ctrl+Shift+B toggles between subscript and Regular.
Highlight the text you want to edit, then look to the Character panel or Type toolbar. Find the text format dropdown menu (it usually defaults to Regular) and select it, then choose either Bold or Italic to change the highlighted text.
Use quotation marks to enclose direct quotes and the titles of short works. Use italics for the titles of long works and foreign words. Dont use underlining for anything other than live links. Never use both italics and quotes; its always one or the other.
To make text italic in Photoshop, select the text layer, highlight the text, and then click the italic icon (or press Ctrl+I / Cmd+I ) in the character panel. Select the text layer, and above you can see regular inside a box. Click the dropdown and select Italic thats it.
