Should I Italicize Et Al.? Most major style guides (including APA, MLA, the Chicago Manual of Style, and Harvard) do not require et al. to be italicized. However, some field-specific publications do require the italicization of the phrase, so its always a good idea to double-check. Using et al.
Note that the period at the end of id. is always italicized.
The main body text of law review articles should be in ordinary typeface, except for case names and the titles of publications, speeches, or articles, all of which are italicized. Other words may be italicized for emphasis or similar stylistic purposes.
Use italics for emphasis, for unfamiliar foreign words and phrases, and for technical terms followed by definitions. Italicize punctuation marks immediately following italicized words.
When a law is spread across multiple consecutive sections, the term et seq. (Latin for and following) is added after the initial section number. It is always italicized and followed by a period. Reference entry with et seq. FessKenyon Act, 29 U.S.C. 31 et seq.

What of e.g., et al., i.e., and etc.? Well, these are not written-out forms, AND they are very common; therefore, there is no need to italicize e.g., et al., i.e., and etc..
Titles of books, plays, films, periodicals, databases, and websites are italicized. Place titles in quotation marks if the source is part of a larger work.
