Each color for every pixel is represented by 8 bitsfor example dark green is represented as 01010010 (red), 10011010(green), and 01100110 (blue). The collection of individual pixels and their color values create images. Thats it! How images are represented in binary!
Binary images are images whose pixels have only two possible intensity values. They are normally displayed as black and white. Numerically, the two values are often 0 for black, and either 1 or 255 for white.
For example, the decimal number 255 is represented as 1111111111 in 8-bit binary, while the decimal number 0 is 00000000 in 8-bit binary. Red, green, and blue each have 8 bits, making 24 bits in total for a coloured pixel.
Each pixel in an image is made up of binary numbers. If we say that 1 is black (or on) and 0 is white (or off), then a simple black and white picture can be created using binary. To create the picture, a grid can be set out and the squares coloured (1 black and 0 white).
An image is broken down into the smallest single piece of information: a single color. This one color is represented as a number. An image is broken down into pixels. Each pixel holds the information about its color.
Code Explanation: I = imread(lighthouse. imshow(I); This line displays the input image I in the figure window. J = im2bw(I,0.5); This line converts the RGB Image to Binary with the threshold level set at 0.5 for comparing intensity levels of pixels.
BW = im2bw( I , level ) converts the grayscale image I to binary image BW , by replacing all pixels in the input image with luminance greater than level with the value 1 (white) and replacing all other pixels with the value 0 (black). This range is relative to the signal levels possible for the images class.
