The text of a header tag appears on the web page as the page title (an h1 tag) or as a subtitle (h2 through h6 tags). The web design function of creating page titles and subheads using header tags (rather than, say, putting headers in bold or in italic text) is formatting.
The title of a complete work is usually centred near the top of the first page; if possible, it should be printed either in large letters or in boldface, or even in both. It should not be italicized or placed in quotation marks, and it should not have a full stop at the end.
7 Rules For Italics Emphasis. Want a word or phrase to stand out in a block of text? Titles Of Work. The titles of works should be italicized (or underlined). Articles. Foreign Words. Names Of Trains, Ships, Spaceships. Words As Reproduced Sounds. Words As Words.
The figure title belongs one double-spaced line below the figure number. The title should be in title case and italics.
Titles of books, plays, films, periodicals, databases, and websites are italicized. Place titles in quotation marks if the source is part of a larger work. Articles, essays, chapters, poems, webpages, songs, and speeches are placed in quotation marks. Sometimes titles will contain other titles.
Dont center, subject to the exceptions in centered text. The best way to emphasize a heading is by putting space above and below, because its both subtle and effective. Use bold, not italic. For headings, bold is easier to read than italic and stands out better on the page.
Use italics instead of underlining for book titles in running text. Do not use italics in headlines or course titles. When a title or sentence is italicized, a word that normally would be italicized in running textsuch as a foreign word, the scientific name of a plant or animal, or a shipshould appear in roman type.
