It doesnt matter which you use. While some prefer and , many people find for bold and for italic easier to remember. You can nest these tags (which means that you can make text both bold and italic) and it doesnt matter which is the outer or inner tag.
To make the selected characters italic, select Ctrl+I. The characters are displayed in italic type. In writing for customers, use regular type to describe type thats neither bold nor italic.
Select the text that you want to make bold, and do one of the following: Move your pointer to the Mini toolbar above your selection and click Bold. . Click Bold. in the Font group on the Home tab. Type the keyboard shortcut: CTRL+B.
To bold, italicize, or underline, select the text you want to change. Then, select the Bold, Italics, or Underline button in the Home tab as shown below. Applying the formatting twice removes the formatting. For example, selecting bolded text and then clicking the Bold button will remove the bold formatting.
To italicize the text in HTML, you can use either the tag or the (italics) tag. Both of these tags italicize the text, but the tag indicates that the text has stress emphasis when read.
