today that weamp;#39;re going to talk about quotation marks italics and capitalization so letamp;#39;s start with quotation marks and we use quotation marks around the titles of short published works to set off words to indicate direct quotations and to quote within a quote so for example when weamp;#39;re quoting the titles of short works we put a quotation mark at the beginning and the end of the exact title of that work and short works include newspaper articles magazine articles journal articles a chapter of a book a poem an essay an episode of a TV show an episode of a radio program etc basically if itamp;#39;s a piece of something bigger you would put it in quotation marks we also use quotation marks to set off words within a sentence so for example if you are talking about words within the sentence and the words are not part of the grammatical structure you put quotation marks around them so for example if we say the difference between these two words is more than just an ap

Should I Italicize Et Al.? Most major style guides (including APA, MLA, the Chicago Manual of Style, and Harvard) do not require et al. to be italicized. However, some field-specific publications do require the italicization of the phrase, so its always a good idea to double-check. Using et al.
When a law is spread across multiple consecutive sections, the term et seq. (Latin for and following) is added after the initial section number. It is always italicized and followed by a period. Reference entry with et seq. FessKenyon Act, 29 U.S.C. 31 et seq.
Use quotation marks to enclose direct quotes and the titles of short works. Use italics for the titles of long works and foreign words. Dont use underlining for anything other than live links. Never use both italics and quotes; its always one or the other.
Usage. This is usually considered to be a foreign word (Latin) and is often written in italics to indicate this: but not qua scientist.
Note that the period at the end of id. is always italicized.
Italics are used primarily to denote titles and names of particular works or objects in order to allow that title or name to stand out from the surrounding sentence. Italics may also be used for emphasis in writing, but only rarely.
What of e.g., et al., i.e., and etc.? Well, these are not written-out forms, AND they are very common; therefore, there is no need to italicize e.g., et al., i.e., and etc..
These include the singular form et sequitur (the one thing following) and the plural form et sequentes or et sequentia (for the several things following). Et seq. means and the following and denotes a list or series of items that continues from the item cited just prior to the et seq. abbreviation.
