How to Italicize Text in HTML. To italicize the text in HTML, you can use either the tag or the (italics) tag. Both of these tags italicize the text, but the tag indicates that the text has stress emphasis when read. You can also italicize text with the CSS font-style property set to italic.
To form an italic letter a you may push the pen back a little from right to left to start with. Bring it round in a smooth lozenge shape, with a slightly pointy base somewhat over to the left. (This is what gives the body of the letter its slant.)
To put the selected text in italics, press the Ctrl + I keys. To underline the selected text, press Ctrl + U keys. To undo text formatting, use the same keyboard shortcuts. For example, to remove the underline from selected text, press Ctrl + U again.
To make the selected characters italic, select Ctrl+I. The characters are displayed in italic type.
