so i currently work with the national testing system in norway which is a national monitoring system in the primary and lower secondary school and there i work with a statistical paradigm called item response there which is what i will be talking about today i work at the center for educational measurement at the university of oslo where iamp;#39;m currently doing my phd item response theory is a statistical framework aimed at measuring something we canamp;#39;t observe imagine for example we couldnamp;#39;t measure height or length and how would you measure that itamp;#39;s if you werenamp;#39;t able to take out whatever like a measuring stick to measure the height how would you think of being able to identify the height of a person itamp;#39;s a bit weird example because we all have high eyes and we can see how high people are but it makes a good uh analogy to be able to kind of think of this latent thing this unobservable thing that we aim to measure with item response theory
