To make text italics in HTML, use the HTML tag or and close the tag with or .
To make the selected characters italic, select Ctrl+I. The characters are displayed in italic type.
The tag defines a part of text in an alternate voice or mood. The content inside is typically displayed in italic.
Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the palette menu. You should see options for Faux Bold and Faux Italic. Choose the one you want or both. Bold and italic options may appear as a row of letter Ts at the bottom of the character palette in some downloadable Photoshop versions.
