Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel. Or Welcome If this is the first lesson you watch here on my channel. Today we talk about how to use the future perfect in Italian. The future perfect or compound future is a compound tense of the indicative mood. Compound tense means that it is made up of two words. The first word is the simple future conjugation of the auxiliary to be/to have. The second word is instead the past participle of the verb we want to use. How do we choose whether to use the auxiliary to be or the auxiliary to have? It depends on whether the verb we choose is transitive or intransitive. A transitive verb is followed by a direct object, such as the verb to eat. An intransitive verb, on the other hand, is followed by an indirect object with a preposition, such as the verb to go. Chicago calls for no apostrophe to appear between the year and the s. Both of the following are correct: the 1960s and 1970s and the 60s and 70s. Make sure to use a right apostrophe (opening away from the number)! Also correct: the sixties and seventies.
Writing ages Use the format aged [age] years and aged [age] to [age] years. If aged is not appropriate in the sentence structure, we can use some flexibility. You can also refer to ages as [age]-year-old. Always include the hyphens.
Q. Which is the proper spelling of a generic age: 30s and 40s or 30s and 40s? A. Chicagos preferred style is thirties and forties, but if you need to use numerals, we recommend leaving out the apostrophes.
This rule also applies to ordinals, so spell out ordinals like first or three-thousandth, but use numerals for ordinals like 103rd. 4 Spell out numbers if they begin a sentence, title, or heading. 5 Spell out simple fractions (e.g., two-thirds), but use numerals for whole numbers and fractions together (e.g., 5 ⅔).
Ages. Always use figures. A 5-year-old boy, the boy is 5 years old, the 5-year-olds.
A. Write third grade and grade 3. In Chicago style, the numbers zero through one hundred (CMOS 9.2) or, alternatively, zero through nine (9.3) are spelled out. This applies whether the number is a cardinal (one) or an ordinal (first).
Mid-forties. Vocabulary.com Dictionary, Vocabulary.com, .
a five- year- old child a fifty- five- year- old woman a group of eight- to ten- year- olds but seven years old eighteen years of age Hyphenated in both noun and adjective forms (except as in the last two examples); note the space after the first hyphen in the fourth example (see 7.84).
