Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can create your very own fillable form using Microsoft Word. First off, what is a fillable form? You can have people go in and fill out a form, but they wont be able to edit the questions or the structure of the form. You can use things like check boxes, text fields, drop down lists, date pickers, to build your form. Once someones finished completing your form, they can e-mail it back, they could print it out, or you could even connect it to a database. Connecting to a database is outside of the scope of todays tutorial. Its kind of like an docHub PDF form, but its Microsofts version of it. Ive included sample files today if you want to follow along, otherwise lets jump on the PC and lets get started. Stick to the tried-and-true introduction, body, and conclusion structure. Even if the essay prompt seems relatively loose, youll want your essay to have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Start new paragraphs for new ideas. Its MUCH better to have more short paragraphs than whopping paragraphs that are hard to read!
Essay Outline Introductory Sentence. State your name. Educational Objectives and Career Goals. Identify your major. Brief Background. Who are you? (not your name) family, children, siblings, etc. Need. Why do you need a scholarship? Conclusion. Wrap it up with a simple sentence or two.
Scholarship Application Essay Tips Plan ahead. Dont procrastinate! Talk about your accomplishments. Be clear and to the point. State your need. What is your financial situation? Keep it simple. Dont use unnecessary words (i.e., dont use three words when one will do) Make it easy on your reader.
In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your name, your instructors name, the course, and the date.
Here are some very useful tips on how to write a great scholarship essay: #1 - Third Person: Be sure to write your essay in 3rd person. This means not to use words such as I, we or even you. Rather, you want to write your essay as if its a newspaper article or a press release.
That means using 1-inch page margins, 12-point font size double-spaced (or 1.5 spaced), and a standard font like Times New Roman in classic (default) black. Dont get creative with fonts or colors here. You want the content of your essay to be what stands out, rather than your unorthodox formatting.
The authors surname and the page number should be in the heading of every page on the top right corner. - Place the title of your paper in the middle of the page, halfway down the page. - Center your name right under your title. - Center the title of your paper in the middle of the page.
