hello everybody happy pi day this is Andrew born and sometimes I get so caught up in the math that I forget some of the practical sides of communicating the math one of my students asked me how do i type the PI character on the keyboard its all Roman letters no Greek letters how do we get that little lowercase PI so heres how you do it make sure that your number lock on your keypad is engaged so that when you type in numbers here you you get numbers and not the home and page up and whatever so to type in the character you press and hold down the Alt key and then the magical sequence is two to seven and then release and that will pop in a PI character in your document or a text field or whatever if youre using a Mac computer its slightly easier you just press and hold down the option key and then hit P and that will type in a PI character so option P on the Mac
