To add or remove access control list (ACL) entries from a file or directory, get the FileSecurity or DirectorySecurity object from the file or directory. Modify the object, and then apply it back to the file or directory.
To control access to an interface, use the ip access-group interface configuration command. To remove the specified access group, use the no form of this command. ip access-group {access-list-number | name}{in | out} no ip access-group {access-list-number | name}{in | out}
Network Access Control List Meaning. A network access control list (ACL) is made up of rules that either allow access to a computer environment or deny it. In a way, an ACL is like a guest list at an exclusive club. Only those on the list are allowed in the doors.
any packet entering to interface is considered as inbound by ACL. any packet leaving out of interface is considered as outbound by ACL.
To insert a new ACE between existing ACEs in a list: Use ip access-list to enter the Named-ACL ( nacl ) context of the ACE. Begin the ACE command with a sequence number that identifies the position you want the ACE to occupy. Complete the ACE with the Command syntax appropriate for thetype of ACL you are editing.
in and out keywords specify in which direction you are activating the ACL. in means that ACL is applied to the traffic coming into the interface, while the out keyword means that the ACL is applied to the traffic leaving the interface.
Inwhen you are running traffic coming INTO the interface through an ACL. Outwhen you are running traffic leaving the interface through an ACL. If you want to filter packets that is coming in, you want to use the in; and if you want to filter packets that is coming out then you use the out.
There are four different types of ACLs standard, extended, dynamic, and reflexive. Standard ACL: A standard ACL is all about focusing on the source address.
