hey guys whatamp;#39;s happening got a video today for you on this 21 uh ram 3500 100 stock minus the wheels and uh clear bra intent but uh this video is about the edge insight and the exhaust temperature probe so letamp;#39;s pop the hood here so you can in fact one of these on a stock truck with the egr cooler still in place if you can see it itamp;#39;s be right down in there so you can get it there you go there it is now normally as some of you guys probably already know when you put these probes in you do it when a truckamp;#39;s deleted and you donamp;#39;t have this egr cooler in the way and thereamp;#39;s a block off plate there and you just put that probe in the block off plate and that probe is in between cylinders five and six well where i put the probe is also between five and six just on the side of the manifold and not on the top but itamp;#39;ll give pretty much the same readings i would assume and the only way i found to do that is coming from the side um you mig

The most common EGT sensor is a K-type thermocouple, but not all K-type thermocouples are used to measure the exhaust gas temperatures.

What causes hot EGT?

What causes high EGTs? In simple terms, high EGTs are a result of a rich running condition in your diesel engine. This means that the engine is burning too much fuel relative to the amount of air it is getting. You may notice the effects of this as black smoke coming from your tailpipe.

How to wire an EGT sensor?

To connect them, use suitable thermocouple wire. and link the positive wire to the EGT signal input (e.g. EGT1 on the ME442) and the negative wire of the EGT sensor to the sensor ground pin of the ECU.

A general consensus would be 2 inch to 4 inches from the cylinder head if practical. But its your car so its your decision. For turbo engines be sure to CLEAN ALL METAL FILINGS out of the exhaust manifold.
