[Music] hi in this video im going to show you how to use the windows character map to find special characters that you could use to copy and paste and insert in all kinds of things you know like your documents or emails and that sort of thing so right here i have a word document im working on so lets say i wanted to insert something like a bullet or i dont know some square or box some other character like that so what i could do is i could open up the character map and the best way to do that you could find it by searching for it but i would just start typing character map and then click on that guy there and now its going to bring up a character map and the characters that you have will depend on what fonts you have installed so here are all my fonts here so youll notice if i click on a different font i get different characters to choose from and so on and they kind of vary so it kind of takes a little bit of searching to find what youre looking for um so lets say lets find l

Click or tap where you want to insert the special character. Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Go to Special Characters. Double-click the character that you want to insert.
Insert symbol On the Insert menu, click Advanced Symbol, and then click the Symbols tab. Click the symbol that you want.
Use the Number Pad to Create Keyboard Symbols Press Alt + [the number code for the symbol or accented letter]. For example, Alt + 1 inserts ☺, while Alt + 0153 inserts the trademark . Heres a quick list of some of the more common accented letters and symbols. For more, refer to the ANSI character set page.
Insert emojis, GIFs, and symbols with the emoji panel During text entry, type Windows logo key + . (period). The emoji keyboard will appear.
Type all the symbols like a pro If you want to use keyboard shortcuts, heres how: Hold down the Alt key on your keyboard. With the Alt key held down, type the four-digit code on the numeric keypad for the character you want. (Include the leading 0 if thats required.)
Hold the Alt key and type the proper ASCII code on the numeric keypad. When you release the Alt key, you should see your desired symbol on the screen.
The operator for logical OR is actually two characters, not one. Look for the pipe character, | on your keyboard. On a standard American keyboard its usually on the backslash \ key. Shift that and you get | .
