In this tutorial, Josiah Blizzard discusses optimal camera settings for wedding photography, focusing on three key areas: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. He emphasizes the importance of using a wide aperture to achieve a shallow depth of field and create blurry backgrounds. In terms of shutter speed, he advises setting it high enough to prevent motion blur, while maintaining a low ISO is essential to minimize noise in the photos. Josiah aims to provide simple and effective guidelines to improve wedding photography results.

Avoid standing straight to the camera Try standing 45 degrees to the camera shift your weight onto your rear foot. Many people are conscious about looking large in photos. By shifting you weight onto the foot furthest from the lens you are slimming the part of your body closest to the camera.
Keep your back straight and stand tall, and pay attention to your shoulders, ensuring they dont hunch forward. Elongating your spine makes you appear slimmer and taller, and this goes for all your photos throughout the day, not just the posed ones.
Place your bridesmaids at your sides. Some of them can be standing by your shoulders while others are crouched near your knees to make sure everyone is in the photo. Get everyone to lend a hand with your dress, veil, hairstyle, or shoes.
Keep the sun behind the subjects. In the event of shooting in fulland unavoidablesunlight (like shooting alongside a vineyard), shoot the couple with their backs to the sun. If the sun was shining on their faces, it would have made them squint and likely blow out details on the brides dress.
However, you can use these camera settings. For Close-Ups, Keep The Aperture f/4.0. If Its A Day Time Wedding, Keep The ISO 100 or If Its A Nighttime Wedding Keep it between 8001000 or higher. Whether The Group Is Small or Large Keep the Aperture between f/1.4 and f/2.8.
Heres the breakdown: DATE First, we add the date to each image, which is very helpful in understanding what wedding it came from. COUPLES INITIALS After the date, we then add 2 initials for the bride and groom. IMAGE NUMBER After the initials, we then number the images 0001 to whatever the edit comes out to be.
As a photography mentor, I see photographers watermarking their photos all the time. Generally, watermarking your wedding photography or other pro images is seen as a technique to prevent image theft.
5 Spots to Consider When Taking Pictures During the Ceremony Behind the Bride as She Enters. The moment when the bride walks down the aisle with her father is the first time the guests get to see her in all her bridal glory. In Front of the Groom. Opposite the Bride or Groom. Behind the Officiant. Behind the Congregation.
