In the menu bar, select Insert Special characters and the Special characters pop-up will appear. Find the symbol or accented letter to insert. You can scroll to find it or search for it using the search box. Select the desired character to insert it.
Create a symbol with a number pad. Examples include general symbols like ALT + 1, ☺, or ALT + 12, ♀. The system can also create accented letters such as ALT + 0193, , or general foreign characters, like ALT + 0223, . Some symbols, like ! @#$ require you to press and hold Shift while you press 1234.
In your document, position the insertion point where you want the special character to appear. Press and hold down the ALT key while you type the four number Unicode value for the character. Note that NUM LOCK must be on, and you have to use the number pad keys to type the Unicode character value.
Creating the Section Symbol () in Word Documents Click on the menu option Insert. On the drop-down menu, click on the menu option Symbol. On the Symbol screen that displays, click on the Special Characters tab. Click on the section symbol () in the list of symbols that displays, then click on Insert and Close.
The operator for logical OR is actually two characters, not one. Look for the pipe character, | on your keyboard. On a standard American keyboard its usually on the backslash \ key. Shift that and you get | .
Insert special characters On the Insert menu, click Advanced Symbol, and then click the Special Characters tab. Click the character that you want.
Click or tap where you want to insert the special character. Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Go to Special Characters. Double-click the character that you want to insert.
I tried windows + spacebar and it worked for me, see if it helps! To get the AT symbol on a UK keyboard, you need to hold down the Alt key and type 0128 on the numeric keypad. On a UK keyboard, the @ symbol is typically accessed by pressing the Shift key simultaneously with the key located above the number 2.
