Proof of urgency may include: documentation of a medical emergency.
If you have the required identification and applicable documents it will take approximately 20-30 minutes to process your application and issue the licence. The licence can be used anywhere in the province of Ontario. Once issued a marriage licence is valid for 90 days.

In Ontario, you must get a marriage licence before you get married. It is only valid for 90 days, so you must apply for your marriage licence within 3 months of the day you plan to get married. In general, you can get a marriage licence on the same day that you apply.
Download the application form and bring it to an Alberta registry after your ceremony. Its easier to apply in person, however, it is possible to apply for it out of province. You will receive your official marriage certificate in about 3-6 weeks after applying.
