Basic 1099-MISC Filing Instructions. To complete a 1099-MISC, youll need to supply the following data: Business information Your Federal Employer ID Number (EIN), your business name and your business address. Recipients ID Number The recipients Social Security number or Federal Employer ID Number (EIN).
Handwritten forms are acceptable. Write neatly! Everything you write must be completely legible and accurate. Use black ink and block print (no script characters).
To print the 1099 form you send to the IRS select Print data only on a preprinted Red-ink Laser form [Copy A for Social Security on red-ink form] . Please make sure you have pre-printed 1099-MISC in the printer before you hit the OK button.
Please note that Copy B and other copies of this form, which appear in black, may be downloaded and printed and used to satisfy the requirement to provide the information to the recipient.
