How to Insert Shapes in Word Click the Insert tab. Click the Shapes button in the Illustrations group. Select a shape. Insert the shape in one of two ways:
To add a fill or effect, click your shape, click Format, click the arrow next to Shape Fill or Shape Effects, and select a color, gradient, texture, or effect. Click the shape that you want to fill.
Right-click the shape that you want to add a pattern fill to and select Format Shape. In the Format Shape dialog box, click the Fill tab. In the Fill pane, select Pattern fill and then select a pattern, foreground color, and background color for your pattern fill.
Create a drawing in Google Docs On your computer, open a document. In the top left, click Insert Drawing. New. Insert shapes, lines or text with the editing tools.
To insert a shape: Select the Insert tab, then click the Shapes command. A drop-down menu of shapes will appear. Select the desired shape. Click and drag in the desired location to add the shape to your document.
Add text to an AutoShape On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click Shapes, and then click the shape that you want. Drag to create the shape. The shape is automatically selected. On the Drawing Tools tab, in the Insert Shapes group, click Edit Text. Type the text that you want.
