Can I amend the lease without the Landlord or Tenants consent? No, the lease is a legal contract between a Landlord and Tenant that cannot be altered unilaterally, i.e., by only one party to the contract.
A tenancy agreement can normally only be changed if both you and your landlord agree. If you both agree, the change should be recorded in writing, either by drawing up a new written document setting out the terms of the tenancy or by amending the existing written tenancy agreement.
Both parties of the deal are allowed to start changing the initial agreement and suggest amendments through the Lease Amendment Form. For this initiative to be successful, both the landlord and the tenant should discuss the changes in detail and only then make them official. As an example of an addendum, here is a clause that could be added to a tenancy agreement: The landlord and tenant agree to extend the tenancy by an additional month, starting on the 1st of April 2021. The tenant shall pay the rent on the 1st of each month, as agreed in the original tenancy agreement.
The cost for a licensed solicitor to Amend a Lease is dependent on many factors including the complexity and specific requirements of the case. On average it is expected to range from 900-1,200 but in some cases it could cost as much as 1,500.
