- [David] When youamp;#39;re working on a book, or a magazine, or anything that has more than a few pages, you owe it to your readers to add page numbers, but itamp;#39;s a hassle to add page numbers to each and every page, right? Well, fortunately, InDesign makes page numbers easy. In this document, we want the page numbers on almost every document page, so where should we put them? Thatamp;#39;s right, the parent page. So Iamp;#39;m going to come over here to my doc and open the Pages panel, then Iamp;#39;ll double-click on my parent page A, which in this document is called A-Master. Now, Iamp;#39;d like my page numbers at the bottom of this page. I could put it inside the text frame I already have, but in this case, Iamp;#39;m going to grab the Type tool and draw a new text frame down here, just off to the side. Letamp;#39;s zoom in on this by pressing Command + 2 or Control + 2 on Windows. Now, I can type my page number, so what should I type, the actual page number? No, yo

eBooks do not have page numbers because they are reflowable documents designed to flow over various different screen sizes. An eBook is basically just one long webpage that is broken up in smaller pages by the eReading device or software.
If an eBook has page numbers, provide those page numbers in your in-text citation after a direct quote as you would for a print book.
A printed book is made up of four main parts - cover, front matter, main content, and back matter. The cover is rarely considered part of a books pagination and therefore needs no page numbers.
Many ebooks, especially those in PDF format, retain their original paginationso check the top and bottom of each page for numbers as you read. You can also usually find chapter page numbers by looking in the table of contents (within the first few pages of the book).
EPUB and Kindle If no pages are available in an ebook, you should use reasonable paragraph numbering instead. Be aware that this will entail counting the paragraphs from the beginning of that chapter. For example: Oliver N. (2013) Vikings.
Once your ePUB is open in the desktop reader app, click the Document Settings icon on the toolbar. A menu opens. In the page numbers section, select: Digital Edition Page Numbers to set the ePUBs page numbering to adjust as the font and text size change.
Find the EPUB document to which you want to add a page and click on it to open it. Once the document is open, click on the Insert Page button located in the toolbar at the top of the page. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to choose the source of the page you want to insert.
