To get a new page in Microsoft Word, go to the menu ribbon at the top of the page and click on “Insert”. Then select “Page Break”. This will start a new page for you to type on.
o All format rules for the body of your document apply to your Appendix. For example: Margins must be 1” on all sides, text must be double-spaced, there can be no running headers or footers, page numbers must be located bottom center on the page, etc.
To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header & Footer > Page Number > Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
To put a blank page into your Word document, place the cursor where you want the new page to begin and then click Insert > Blank Page. The blank page opens, ready for whatever you want to add. Another option when you need a little space is to insert a page break.
Scroll down until you see the Page Layout options (Compatibility Options in Word 2019 and Word in Office 365). It is at the very bottom of the dialog box; you may need to click the arrow at the left side of the options to see them all. Make sure the Split Apart Page Break and Paragraph Mark check box is selected.
Happily, the keyboard shortcut for this best practice is also simple: CTRL + ENTER. That's right: Instead of hitting enter, enter, enter, enter, enter, just hold down the control key and then press the enter key to insert a page break. Presto!
