There are four main types of customer satisfaction surveys: Net Promoter Score (NPS), Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT), Customer Effort Score (CES), and Product-Market Fit. Question types in customer satisfaction surveys: open-ended, rating scale questions, binary scale questions, and Likert scale questions.
There isnt any one specific question you have to use as long as customers have the opportunity to rate your business on a five or seven-point scale. Record the number of customers that consider themselves satisfied (4 or 5) out of the total number of customers and multiply by 100x.
Best practice is not to request names on questionnaires. This protects participants in case questionnaires are lost or misplaced so that answers to sensitive questions cannot be linked to an identifiable person. If funders or RECs or auditors want proof of enrollment, the separate consent forms can suffice.
Most surveys use one of three methods for naming variables: cryptic codes, question numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 3 or A1, A2a, A2b) or descriptive names (e.g., gender, age, employment).
Keep your survey title names short The good thing about short survey names is that they give respondents just enough information to know what the topic is, without being too lengthy to confuse them or to turn them off. In addition, a shorter title often makes the job of naming a survey much simpler too.
Example questions include: On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with your in-store experience today? How likely are you to recommend (insert product or service) to others? Rate your satisfaction with our team in resolving your issue. Did you feel that our team answered your inquiry promptly?
Survey names should be short and rather vague, but still give potential respondents an idea of the content. Keeping them short helps to engage, while keeping them vague helps ensure people arent attracted or deterred from taking it based on the topic alone, improving data analysis.
Avoid using words that are too extreme or vague, mixing numerical and ordinal labels, or using different scales for different questions. Furthermore, ensure that labels are not offensive, insensitive, or culturally biased.
