Employers and polygraph examiners must retain required records for a minimum of three years from the date the polygraph examination is conducted (or from the date the examination is requested if no examination is conducted).
The Polygraph Test is commonly known as a lie detector test. It is a procedure that detects several physiological indicators, including pulse, blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity, which indicate if a person is being untruthful when asked a series of questions.
The instrument typically used to conduct polygraph tests consists of a physiological recorder that assesses three indicators of autonomic arousal: heart rate/blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity. Most examiners today use computerized recording systems.
A polygraph is an instrument that measures and records physiological indices such as blood pressure, respiration, pulse, and skin conductivity while the subject is asked and answers questions.
The machine measures changes in the subjects blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate and sweat production. The theory underlying the polygraph test is that a person who is lying exhibits involuntary physiological responses that can be detected by the polygraph instrument.
ing to the American Psychological Association (APA), polygraph tests measure a persons heart rate/blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity. The purpose of the test is usually to prove whether or not a person committed a crime. The test cannot actually test for honesty, however.
It comprises a machine with several medical instruments attached to measure the subjects pulse, blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity.
Testing Procedure Polygraph measuring devices, including pneumographs, a sphygmomanometer, and electrodes, are placed on the subject either during the pretest interview or at its conclusion. After the end of the pretest interview, the sphygmomanometer is inflated, and the recording of responses begins.
