The apostrophe after a last name shows possession. Its use depends on the last letter of the last name. If the last name ends in a letter other than s, add an apostrophe, followed by the letter s. If the last name ends in s, either add just an apostrophe, or add an apostrophe followed by the letter s.
Microsoft Word (installed Microsoft 365 version) In the Header Footer grouping, click on Page Number Top of Page Plain Number 3. This should add a page number to the far-right corner of the top of the page. Click in front of the number (or hit the left arrow key). Type your last name followed by a space.
Youre going to want to add the letters es to your last name to make it plural. In other words, Jane Gomez and Lydia Gomez becomes the Gomezes. Jim Felix and his wife and kids becomes the Felixes.
Possessive Apostrophes and Plural Nouns Typically, if a plural noun ends with an S, you simply have to add an apostrophe. My twin brothers birthday party is tomorrow.
This depends on the style you are using: Chicago and MLA say add s as in: Mills becomes Millss. APA says add s to singular names ending in s, except if the name ends in an unpronounced s and then use only an apostrophe: Descartes becomes Descartes
When forming the possessive of singular proper names ending in s, convention allows for either adding just an apostrophe or an apostrophe plus s. While some style guides prefer one over the other, both James and Jamess are technically correct.
