Add name, address, and other fields in your database through Merge Fields. Go to Mailings Insert Merge Field and select the field you want to add. Continue adding fields until youve added all the information you want on your letter. Choose OK.
Navigate to the location in the Word document where you want to insert a field. Click the Insert tab in the Ribbon and then click Quick Parts in the Text group. Select Field. In the list of Field names on the left, select DocProperty. Under Field properties, select a property name.
If you have tried to use an unusual character in the file name (as listed in the Cause section of this article), remove it from the file name and then try saving the file. If the file you are trying to open has an invalid character, rename the file and then try to open it again.
Windows users Right-click the file (not the shortcut). Select Rename in the menu. Erase the . txt from myfile. txt and press Enter . Click Yes on the warning about the file becoming unusable if youre sure you want to delete the file name extension.
Click the File tab. Click Info to view the document properties. To add or change properties, hover your pointer over the property you want to update and enter the information. Note that for some metadata, such as Author, youll have to right-click on the property and choose Remove or Edit.
Another way to insert the file name without the extension is to use a different field. For instance, you could use File Properties to save the filename by typing it in manually without the extension. You could then use the DOCPROPERTY field to recall that specific property and insert it in your document.
GetFileNameWithoutExtension(ReadOnlySpan) Returns the file name without the extension of a file path that is represented by a read-only character span.
Go to Insert Header or Footer. Select Edit Header or Edit Footer. Select Quick Parts, and select Field. In the Field names list, choose the field you want (such as FileName, Date, Author, or Title), choose the format you want in the Field properties section.
