APA Headings and subheadings are required to help organize and provide structure to papers and essays. Just like MLA, APA has guidelines for APA headings and subheadings which offer a premise on what each section should entail. This is important for the easy navigation of readers all through the literary piece.
Select the Header section of your document by going to the insert tab OR you can double click at the top of the page for header section to pop up. In the Header Footer tools design tab, check the box next to Different first page. To insert a page number on your first page: go to the Header Footer group.
Heading Levels (2.27) The seventh edition changes only level three, four, and five headings. All headings are now written in title case (important words capitalized) and boldface. Headings are distinguished only by the use of italics, indentation, and periods. Text starts a new paragraph.
Your headings should follow the formatting in Table 1. Format for Headings in APA 7th. 4 Indented, Bold, Title Case Heading, with a Full Stop. Text begins on the same line and continues as a regular paragraph.
